About the Programme
The International Foundation Diploma in Business and Information Technology is designed to prepare students with essential study, writing, communication, and numeracy skills. It provides foundational knowledge in business and IT, helping students to understand and apply basic theories and concepts. Graduates will be equipped with the skills necessary to progress to higher education or begin entry-level roles within business and IT sectors.

Critical-Thinking
The aim of this module is a unique integration of study and critical-thinking skills to help students succeed study and critical thinking skills in higher education. Furthermore, this module emphasizes the different types of thinking necessary in modules across the curriculum and helps students expand their critical-thinking skills into decision making, problem solving, creative thinking, and scientific thinking. It also provides suggestions for adapting these skills to courses in the Technology, Business and law, accounting and finance, hospitality, and tourism courses.
Introduction to Statistics
This module introduces the basic concept of quantitative approaches to decision making.
Communication for Project Effectiveness
The aim of this module is to help students develop their communication skills, developing skills that will be useful for future studies.
Fundamentals of Accounting
This module introduces students to the fundamental concepts and key techniques of accounting.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to the principles and practices of management.
Introduction to IT
This module introduces students to the basic concepts and developments in information technology fundamentals. Learners will gain hands-on coding skills for practical business applications. No prior programming knowledge is required and serves as the first step in your data analytics, data science, and any business applications learning journey. This module will also teach you how to gain vital insights by evaluating data.

Programme Aims
The International Foundation Diploma in Business and Information Technology (FDBIT) serves as an initial qualification for students aiming to embarks on a career in one of a wide range of industries, and/or for students aiming for a Higher Education qualification in a subject allied to Business, Infocomm Technology, Hospitality and Tourism industry.
Holders of the FDBIT will be equipped to enter employment in a role requiring some personal responsibility but within a mainly supervised context. The FDBIT aims to prepare students for transition into higher education study, by equipping them with the fundamental skills, and knowledge needed to be successful in their chosen area of related disciplines.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this FDBIT programme, students should be able to:
- Discover an area of interest in Business and Law, Technology, and Hospitality and Tourism providing students with an academic bridge into the higher education.
- Demonstrate effective inter-personal skills when working in groups or leading teams.
- Professionally communicate and present proposals, findings, and results.
- Possess the necessary personal qualities and technical skills to progress to higher level studies.
In addition, holders of the International Foundation Diploma in Business and Information Technology should have developed the qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment requiring the exercise of some personal responsibility.

Graduation and Awards
Students must take and satisfactorily complete six modules to be awarded the LSBF International Foundation Diploma in Business and Information Technology. All students must complete all modules. Students, who fail to complete all six modules, will be given only a Statement of Results.

Local Students Entry Requirements
Minimum Academic Requirement:
- At least two passes in GCE ‘O’ Level; or
- NITEC or Higher NITEC
Minimum English language Requirement:
- Achieved grade D7 or better in English language in GCE O level; or
- Pass in English Language in Year 10 High School qualification or equivalent; or
- IELTS 5.0/TOEFL 500; or
- Completed LSBF Preparatory Course in English Intermediate Level; or
- Successfully pass LSBF English Placement Test
Minimum Age
17 years old
Students with non-standard entry requirements (e.g. other PEI qualification etc) will be assessed on a case-by-case basis subject to approval of the Academic Board.
International Students Entry Requirements

- Equivalent qualification from respective home countries

What career opportunities are available after this diploma?
This foundation diploma prepares you for further study rather than immediate employment. However, it gives you basic knowledge that may support junior admin or tech support roles while you study.
What can I study after this diploma?
You can progress to any diploma with LSBF Singapore Campus in seven different specialisations: Accounting & Finance,Banking, Business, Technology, Law, Hospitality, and Logistics.
What if I’m unsure about business or IT?
That’s okay. This foundation helps you build general academic and digital skills. You can later pivot to hospitality, marketing, or law-related diploma programmes.
Is there financial support available for this programme?
Yes, LSBF’s diploma programmes are eligible for UTAP (Union Training Assistance Programme) funding. NTUC members can receive 50% course fee support, capped at S$500 per year.
