About This Programme
The LLB (Hons) programme equips students with essential skills to embark on a legal career. It explores key areas and values shaping the English Legal System, fostering the ability to analyse legal issues, craft compelling arguments, and navigate complex legal landscapes with confidence. Upon completion, the Bachelor of Laws degree is awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University.

MODULES
Designed to explore beyond subject knowledge
The LLB (Hons) programme provides an in-depth understanding of the English Legal System, exploring its core areas and values. Students will develop the ability to critically analyse legal issues, craft persuasive arguments, and apply their knowledge to complex legal scenarios.
Graduates will have honed their research and collaboration skills, ethical awareness, and proficiency in digital communication tools. These skills prepare them to address diverse legal challenges and excel in professional practice.
Criminal Law
This module explores the core elements of major crimes in the law of England and Wales. It emphasises the construction of strong, effective arguments by building on skills in case analysis and legal reasoning. Students will also be introduced to drafting and using skeleton arguments, as well as developing oral advocacy skills.
Critical Approaches (in Foundation Subjects)
This module builds on foundational areas of law, focusing on enhancing critical analysis and evaluation skills. Students will reflect on the effectiveness of existing laws, explore potential improvements, and develop their ability to construct and propose innovative arguments and
Digital Skills for Lawyers
This module focuses on developing digital skills to navigate the evolving legal system and profession. It provides students with a foundation to evaluate these changes while encouraging reflection on their readiness to work within these new and dynamic landscapes.
Equity and Trust
This module equips students with the knowledge to apply and critically evaluate Equity’s jurisdiction, exploring the nature of equity, trust concepts, and the principles of certainty, constitution, and formalities. Topics include the purpose of trusts, undue influence, secret trusts, trustees’ powers and duties, tracing, and the variation of trusts.
EU Law in the UK
This module examines the legal relationship between the UK and the EU, providing insights into its historical and current dynamics. It builds on students’ skills in effective legal research, the use of legal sources, and legal writing.
Land Law
This module explores aspects of property law that commonly affect individuals’ lives. It equips students with the skills to assess scenarios, collaborate effectively in groups, and construct and communicate professional legal advice.
Law for Entrepreneurs
This module focuses on the critical analysis and application of laws related to the creation and early stages of UK businesses. Building on skills developed in earlier levels, students will enhance their abilities in analysis, application of legal sources, and problem-solving. The module also introduces drafting skills using templates.
Legal Professionalism and Ethics
This module examines the role of ethics in law and the legal profession. It aims to develop students’ ability to identify and address ethical issues across a broad spectrum of existing and emerging legal areas.
Global Corporations: Power, Politics, Ethics and Governance
This module explores the rise of corporations, focusing on the interplay between capitalism, globalisation, and responsible governance. Students will critically examine the power and political dynamics of corporations and their ethical implications.
Law of Evidence
This module examines the body of law and discretionary powers used to prove facts in court, focusing on both adjectival and procedural aspects. Building on skills developed at earlier levels, students will enhance their abilities in analysis, application of sources, constructing arguments, and providing legal advice. The module also develops legal drafting skills for written professional advice.
Preparation for Projects: Dissertation
This module equips students with the necessary skills for their chosen project area. Students will complete a preparation unit tailored to their selected dissertation project, ensuring they are well-prepared for research and execution.
Professional Skills and Environment
This module helps students consolidate and articulate the skills acquired during their previous studies. It focuses on further developing these skills to ensure success in their degree outcomes and future employment.

Assessment
- Modules are allocated a mark out of 100%. The pass mark for each module is based on an aggregate mark of 40%. The aggregate mark comprises marks from components/modules whose threshold is 40%. Assessment may incorporate one, two or three components/modules.

- Assessment methods include formal examinations, work, project work and group
- Learners/Students with disabilities and/or particular learning needs should discuss assessments with the Module Leader to ensure they are able to fully engage with all assessment within the module.

ELIGIBILITY
Who can apply for this programme
Minimum Academic Entry Requirements
Students who have successfully completed either of the following:
- LSBF Diploma in Law (entitled to entry for Year 2)
- Local Polytechnic Diploma in Law with a minimum grade of C+ / GPA5
- Students, who have obtained equivalent qualifications in relevant fields, or mature candidates who do not meet the standard entry requirements, will be assessed on a case-by- case basis and subject to university approval.
Minimum English Language Entry Requirements
- Applicants who have studied prior qualifications in English requiring IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
